Visit to one of EOQ ‘s FOUNDING MEMBER : AFQPDuring our recent visit to Paris, Paulo and Katelijne had the pleasure of meeting with representatives of Association France Qualité Performance (AFQP), the French national quality organization and the official French National Representative of the European Organization for Quality (EOQ). AFQP plays a key role in promoting quality and organizational excellence in France through networking, the exchange of best practices, professional development, conferences, webinars, quality awards, and the representation of the French quality community at both European and international level.Our meeting took place at one of AFQP's partner locations, the prestigious Institut Catholique de Paris (ICP), founded in 1875 and located in the heart of Paris' historic 6th arrondissement. The remarkable setting of this historic university immediately reflected the atmosphere of the discussions that followed: professional, thoughtful, and clearly conducted at a strategic level.<img src="https://www-bo.eoq.org/uploads/Unief_Paris_3_7cdaba685e.jfif" alt="Unief Paris 3.jfif"> <img src="https://www-bo.eoq.org/uploads/ICP_228bf33ef7.png" alt="ICP.png">We were warmly welcomed by Pierre Girault, President of AFQP, and Patrick Mongillon, Vice-President. The meeting was exceptionally well prepared, and it quickly became clear that our respective visions for the future are strongly aligned.<img src="https://www-bo.eoq.org/uploads/Whats_App_Image_2026_10_15_at_22_14_01_1_d2efff8678.jpeg" alt="WhatsApp Image 2026-10-15 at 22.14.01 (1).jpeg">&nbsp;Following an initial brainstorming session on future-oriented certification schemes, including emerging opportunities in the field of soft skills certification, a wide range of strategic topics were discussed:<ul><li data-list-item-id="efd9f06c5c9eda1071b61f4ba8c3c87e9">Position papers and thought leadership: EOQ could further strengthen its role as the "Voice of Quality" in Europe by developing and publishing position papers on key societal and economic challenges, such as the reindustrialisation of Europe.</li><li data-list-item-id="ea6e2459e6f95fcf10e9989544b9935c8">International networking and exchange of best practices: a priority identified by many EOQ members during our recent survey. EOQ could act more actively as a facilitator of knowledge sharing between members.</li><li data-list-item-id="ef499179e35975c21dbb2f010407d71ca">Relations with European institutions: beyond expressing opinions on important topics, EOQ could reconnect more closely with the European Commission and contribute to discussions that influence future policies.</li><li data-list-item-id="e1f494af514f649f69b5203adff8c1c71">Communication and visibility: both general communication and the development of stronger relationships with journalists and stakeholders connected to European institutions.</li><li data-list-item-id="e5322a829a977f2423a185f6a63d1ac52">A renewed webinar concept: moving away from traditional presentations towards more interactive formats, such as discussions between multiple speakers or active audience participation.</li><li data-list-item-id="eacb8f90aa9c809cec4b6448936faa27f">Future certification schemes and strategic focus: maintaining quality as EOQ's core mission while ensuring that certification activities support this objective.</li><li data-list-item-id="e1de2c6c419eef2c4a840be93c66f3a72">Increasing the effectiveness of partnerships: defining clearer objectives, evaluating outcomes, creating business opportunities, and strengthening benchmarking activities.</li><li data-list-item-id="e84aaddfdd0779cf729a3833a43e99c29">Broadening the scope of quality: recognizing that quality today extends well beyond traditional quality management and includes areas such as risk management, security, metrology, occupational health and safety, sustainability, and environmental management.</li><li data-list-item-id="e59d9d2c8198a116785540dd12b72fcfe">Reinventing the annual EOQ Congress: exploring more dynamic formats that encourage interaction and debate. One idea discussed was to challenge business leaders to defend a proposition in just eight minutes before the audience. We also considered whether a biennial congress model could create greater impact, while allowing EOQ to provide stronger support to local organizers, including joint sponsor acquisition efforts.</li></ul>These topics, and many others, contributed to an exceptionally valuable and inspiring exchange of ideas. The conversation continued long after we left the meeting room and accompanied us throughout the journey home.Visits such as this continue to confirm that EOQ is moving in the right direction. Every meeting with our members reinforces our shared ambition to build a stronger, more modern, and more influential European Organization for Quality. We remain convinced that personal contact with our members is essential and that every voice matters in shaping EOQ's future.After all, there is no "Q" without you.

Since taking office as President of EOQ, Paulo Sampaio has been guided by one clear conviction: a strong EOQ can only be built through strong relationships with its members.Under the banner "EOQ: No 'Q' Without You", Paulo has placed personal dialogue, mutual understanding, and active engagement with our National Representatives and partners at the very heart of EOQ's priorities. Understanding the ambitions, expectations, challenges, and objectives of our members is not merely important; it is essential for shaping the future of our organization.As part of this commitment, Paulo and Katelijne have already undertaken several member visits across Europe.In preparation for the EOQ Congress 2026 in Kosovo, we had the pleasure of visiting our National Representative, Quality Kosovo, where we were warmly welcomed by president Edmond Hajrizi and his team. The discussions not only strengthened our collaboration around the upcoming congress but also provided valuable insights into the needs and aspirations of the quality community in the region.&nbsp;&nbsp;<img class="image_resized" style="width:47.74%;" src="https://www-bo.eoq.org/uploads/2026_Congress_TEAM_2_021f469123.jpeg" alt="2026 Congress TEAM 2.jpeg"> &nbsp;<img class="image_resized" style="width:43.75%;" src="https://www-bo.eoq.org/uploads/2026_EOQ_Congress_VENUE_UBT_3_eb35fee7b6.jpg" alt="2026 EOQ Congress - VENUE- UBT 3.jpg">&nbsp;More recently, we visited DGQ in Frankfurt, where we received a very warm welcome from managing director Claudia Welker. During our discussions, we gained a deeper understanding of DGQ's rich history, its current activities, and its strategic role within the European quality landscape. When Thomas Votsmeier, director of standardisation and certification, joined the meeting, it became even more evident how important DGQ's contribution is to EOQ's representation within our network of liaison partners. At the same time, DGQ reaffirmed the importance of maintaining a close relationship with EOQ, particularly in view of the certification schemes owned by EOQ and especially the recently updated CosCS 9000 framework.&nbsp;<img class="image_resized" style="width:48.56%;" src="https://www-bo.eoq.org/uploads/2026_07_16_DGQ_993956bc02.png" alt="2026 07 16 DGQ.png"> &nbsp;<img class="image_resized" style="width:42.54%;" src="https://www-bo.eoq.org/uploads/Whats_App_Image_2026_09_22_at_13_19_08_5_0f3b99c6e7.jpeg" alt="WhatsApp Image 2026-09-22 at 13.19.08 (5).jpeg">&nbsp;Our visit to AEC in Madrid once again demonstrated how highly personal contact is valued, not only by EOQ but also by our members. We had the pleasure of meeting Beatriz López, who, in addition to her role as Managing Director of Unilabs, has taken on the presidency of AEC. It was equally a pleasure to meet again with Enrique González, whom we have known and worked with for many years. As Director of Personnel Certification (CERPER), his experience, insights and longstanding commitment made a valuable contribution to our engaging and productive discussions.While several challenging topics and some disappointments were openly discussed, the meeting ultimately resulted in a positive path forward and a renewed commitment to cooperation, although in a different format than before. It was a clear reminder that honest dialogue, mutual respect, and face-to-face conversations often create opportunities that would otherwise remain hidden.&nbsp;<img class="image_resized" style="width:25.29%;" src="https://www-bo.eoq.org/uploads/AEC_76829a5c45.png" alt="AEC.png"> &nbsp;<img class="image_resized" style="width:68.38%;" src="https://www-bo.eoq.org/uploads/AEC_Spain_2026_09_10_5d6593cf50.png" alt="AEC - Spain - 2026 09 10.png">Without these visits, and without Paulo's sincere ambition to shape EOQ into an organization that truly listens to its members, the outcome could have been very different.The future EOQ that we are building together is an organization that promotes:<ul><li>Knowledge sharing and inspiration on quality and management;</li><li>Training and educational opportunities;</li><li>Stronger collaboration between national EOQ members;</li><li>Greater international visibility and representation of EOQ;</li><li>Joint international projects, events and initiatives;</li><li>Support in building partnerships beyond national borders; and</li><li>A shared European vision that strengthens the relevance of quality throughout Europe.</li></ul>Looking ahead, Paulo's vision for EOQ is firmly centred on the concept of "The Big Q." EOQ believes in a broader quality ecosystem that extends far beyond certification and standardization alone. Our ambition is to further develop EOQ as a vibrant international network where professionals and organizations exchange knowledge, discuss emerging challenges, learn from one another, and collectively strengthen the role of quality throughout Europe.This direction reflects many of the expectations and aspirations that our members have shared with us over recent years. It is therefore no coincidence that listening has become one of EOQ's most important commitments.Because the future of EOQ is not something we build for our members. Paulo Sampaio, EOQ President, and Katelijne Knaeps, EOQ Program Manager, recently had the pleasure of visiting UBT University in Pristina, the inspiring venue for the <a href=" https://www.eoq.org/news-and-events/yearly-quality-congress/">EOQ Congress 2026</a>, which will take place in 2026 on October 22–23.&nbsp;From the moment they arrived, they were warmly welcomed by Edmond Hajrizi, CEO of Quality Kosovo (EOQ National Representative) and the visionary founder, builder, and driving force behind UBT University.<img class="image_resized" style="width:48.98%;" src="https://www-bo.eoq.org/uploads/2026_Congress_Paulo_Katelijne_Edmond_1_779307c2f0.jpeg" alt="2026 Congress Paulo, Katelijne, Edmond 1.jpeg"> <img class="image_resized" style="width:49.13%;" src="https://www-bo.eoq.org/uploads/2026_Congress_Paulo_Katelijne_Edmond_e74404d12f.jpeg" alt="2026 Congress Paulo, Katelijne, Edmond.jpeg">From the very beginning, this visit represented more than preparation—it reflected a clear mission. As Edmond emphasized, UBT is about connecting knowledge and practice, cultures, and people. That philosophy is exactly the spirit we aspire to create and experience during the EOQ Congress.The university stands as a powerful symbol of resilience in a young country that continues to shape its future with determination and optimism. At UBT, learning goes far beyond the classroom. On 18 May, EOQ was, at the kind invitation of Messrs. Sasaki-san, Onodera-san and Maeda-san, gratefully present at a networking evening held ahead of the celebration of JUSE’s 80th anniversary. The event provided a valuable opportunity to renew and strengthen relationships with partners from South Korea, Canada, Sri Lanka, India, China and, of course, Japan.<img src="https://www-bo.eoq.org/uploads/09_bis_JUSE_80_Networking_Dinner_3cf2f62b4b.png" alt="09-bis JUSE 80- Networking Dinner.png">&nbsp;Ms. Romana Hofmanova, first Vice President of EOQ, &nbsp;addressed all invited overseas guests and emphasized EOQ’s wish to continue and further strengthen the good relationships with EOQ's global partners.<img src="https://www-bo.eoq.org/uploads/07_JUSE_80_Networking_Dinner_ffa9dc8f52.jpg" alt="07- JUSE 80- Networking Dinner.jpg">&nbsp;On May 19, 2026, the Japan Federation of Science and Technology held its commemorative lecture and celebration at the Tokyo Kaikan for the 80th anniversary of its founding. More than 400 attendees, including guests from overseas, celebrated the 80th anniversary since its founding in May 1946.<img src="https://www-bo.eoq.org/uploads/40_JUSE_80_Celebration_408d3d2674.jpg" alt="40- JUSE 80- Celebration.jpg">&nbsp;Mr. Onodera’s speech — which could be followed live via a translation app — left a deep impression. His overview of his long career demonstrated his significant contribution to the continuous evolution of quality improvement at Toyota. This was not achieved without challenges, but Mr. Onodera’s ongoing dedication and sustained efforts continue to testify, to this day, to his valuable contribution.<img src="https://www-bo.eoq.org/uploads/13_JUSE_80_Celebration_be61b930de.jpg" alt="13- JUSE 80- Celebration.jpg">&nbsp;We look back with gratitude on the warm welcome, the many engaging conversations, and the celebration, which was of an exceptionally high standard in all respects.<img src="https://www-bo.eoq.org/uploads/52_bis_JUSE_80_Group_840ac13403.png" alt="52-bis JUSE 80- Group.png">&nbsp;As a perfect conclusion to this successful event, we had the honour of engaging in a pleasant conversation with Professor Kano. Romana describes it as follows : "It was a great honor for me to participate in this extraordinary event. I especially appreciated the opportunity to meet Professor Kano. He is also regarded as a guru in the field of quality in the Czech Republic, and our CEO, Petr Koten, even wrote his diploma thesis based on his method. Everyone in our company was thrilled that I had the chance to meet such an important figure. In addition, the professor recalled his cooperation with Ms. Anežka Žaludová, the founder of the Czech Society for Quality. Once again, I wish JUSE many more successful years."<img src="https://www-bo.eoq.org/uploads/59_bis_JUSE_80_prof_Kano_1a0f6b1203.png" alt="59-bis JUSE 80- prof Kano.png">
